Prepping the living room, a light sanding on all surfaces. This room will also need two coats of primer and hopefully only one finish coat. This will also be a music room and gallery. As of May 26 I've completed two coats of primer on the ceiling, one on the walls. Today I hope to apply the second coat of primer on the walls and get started on the woodwork (five doors, two windows).

  • Dining/music room. This room will also feature my BW Irish musician photos.
  • Dining/music room, east wall. The little boat is a model of the Galway Hooker, given to me by my friend Lee Smith, a carpenter and boat man from Maine. This model inspired the the mother of pearl inlay that will be on the headstock of the bouzouki that Nik Apollonio is building for me.
  • Dining/music room window.
  • The hallway between the dining room and the living room. This room was a killer: claustrophobic, four doors, a window (that I had to remove from the frame and repair), and was very dark so required three coats of paint. No matter; it's done, now, and so will the rest be.
  • The hallway, facing the dining room.
  • The front hall, main entryway. Welcome to the Alison Boylston Piazza House, home of Midnight Mermaid Gallery and Sara Piazza Photography and Music.

  • Next, the porch needs some repairs: a few floorboards need to be replaced and hopefully I won't find any surprises underneath :-). The deck will also get a new coat of paint; repairs and painting hopefully to be completed in time for the Fourth of July BBQ/Irish porch session that will kick off the summer Irish music series (complete with passing parade and fireworks three blocks away over the harbor).
